COACHING FAQ'S Working with a coach is a very personal process, even if you are hiring a business or executive coach. It requires you to dig deep into yourself to clarify your values, beliefs, goals and strategies. When hiring a coach, here are some key criteria you may want to consider:
Make sure they are certified or have gone through coach training. It's becoming confusing to the consumer as the word "coach" is being used for many different services. Make sure you are getting someone with the skills you need.
Choose someone who you feel comfortable talking with. The reason I still offer complimentary consultations is to give us the opportunity to see if there is a fit so that you can get the most out of your coaching.
Go with your gut, it's usually your best barometer.

Coaching is not like therapy or consulting. Although we may look into your past for answers if necessary, our focus is on the present and shifting you from where you are now to where you want to be. We also look for the answers within you rather than me telling you what I feel is right for you, the way a consultant would. While I am always happy to share expertise I have in certain areas of life or business, the bulk of our coaching will be focused on you getting in touch with what works best for you. After all, who knows you better than you?
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: 1. Why hire a coach, wouldn't a friend or spouse be just as effective?
Family and friends have their hearts in the right place, but being coached successfully requires a few key elements: A) the coach must possess the techniques and skills to not only draw out the best in someone but to help them move past sometimes very challenging hurdles of fear and doubt. B) the coach must be objective and impartial and be 100% focused on the client's objectives and agenda. C) the coach is not there to give advice or opinions but rather to draw out what works best for you.
2. How Long Will I Need A Coach For?
Coaching is a process and everyone moves at a different pace. Some clients work for 3 months, some for a year. For anyone looking to create real change in their lives or work, 3 months is the minimum recommended to allow for you to get clear on your goals, remove blocks and take action consistently. Beliefs, behaviors and situations are rarely created overnight, so to change those situations requires time and commitment. However, I require no obligation to any amount of coaching time and am focused on getting you maximum results in the minimum amount of time possible.
3. What if I Can't Afford It?
There is no question that coaching is an investment in you and your future. And like any investment, you have to choose where you feel your money is best spent and that is a decision only you can make. Obviously there are some individuals for whom this process may simply be cost prohibitive. On the other hand, I have had some individuals use money as an excuse to stay stuck, even though the goals they wanted to work on may have significantly increased their income.
